Qualifications

  • Additional qualifying experience such as construction supervisors or as owners of independent specialty contracting firms may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis. 
  • Possession of a valid California driver’s license.
  • Associate Constructor (AC), Certified Professional Constructor (CPC) and Certified Construction Manager (CCM) are desirable.

Qualifications

 

Ideal Candidate: The class of Water System Supervisor is the supervisory level class in the Water Department. Supervision is received from the Water Department Manager. Incumbents routinely plan, schedule, and monitor projects and tasks through subordinate employees. Incumbents coordinate and participate in the training, instructing, evaluating, and correcting the work of subordinate employees including assurance that accepted work and safety methods are practiced. Incumbents oversee employees engaged in a broad range of routine to very complex level duties requiring advanced journey level expertise in the following areas: construction and maintenance of pipelines, water services, fire hydrants, meters, pumps, motors, water plant facilities, and associated appurtenances.

This shall include overall water system operations and knowledge utilizing SCADA control systems and participating in the Standby (On Call) rotation schedule. Incumbents are expected to use sound and independent judgment in carrying out job assignments, and may serve in the absence of the Water Department Manager. 

  • Minimum 6 years of increasingly responsible experience in community and/or social services.
